I think it's the exaggerated lips, rather than the fact it's black.

It's disgusting & innapropriate. I'll never buy Gucci again.
-
Absolutely I am disgusted by Gucci
-
Shame really, as these days it's hard to make ends meet and they provide value for money.

Now if they withdrew it as an offense against fashion...that would be understandable

All that aside, who would want to wear that?
-
It would be excellent to wear at a blackface party. Those are still in style

It astounds me that people are so daft they can't see that there's a big difference in meaning between these garments- then again this post is to try and provoke reaction to Julia's cryptic racism so why be surprised?

I have a few black friends and I see black people everyday. I’ve never seen one that looks even remotely like that. I think the real reason is Gucci realised it looks utterly ridiculous so wanted a way of withdrawing it without admitting they should never have made it!

Its probably Americans that remember minstrel show but i suspect that's the reason for the outragepic.twitter.com/oX7Uw3jGTf

I knew the extremely loose reference they were allegedly referring to. But apart from it’s got a red bit around the mouth. I see no resemblance.
-
I was just pointing it out, I'm black and I frankly couldn't care less, I'm not offended by words or clothes.
-
Careful now. You’ll offend someone by not being offended about something no right minded person gets offended about.

-
You should ask your black friends about it to get their opinion on how it looks rather than just giving your opinion as a non-black person who thinks knowing how their black friends look will help understand the issue.
-
I have. Not one of them understands why anyone would get offended by it. Each to their own.
