Really? You might want to look up this thing called the Good Friday Agreement (sometimes called the Belfast Agreement)...

The backstop contravenes it. Why are the EU trying to cause an Irish civil war?
-
I must have missed the bit where the EU had a vote, all shouted "Project Fear" and pretended there was no issue and then suggested a backstop as a mitigation when reality dawned... Oh no, wait a mo, that was all us.

What a scumbag Verhofstadt is for suggesting a return to violence if the backstop is removed. The sooner we are out of the EU the better. 29th March 2019 can't come soon enough.

Utterly disgraceful. Trying to whip up the threat of a non-existent return to violence in order to undermine the result of a democratic referendum. Deliberately stoking tensions and fearmongering to undermine Brexit. Par for the course. Another reason to reject Verhofstadt et al.
-
U realise the irony of ur comment..!?!
-
There is no irony. No one wants a hard border in Ireland so why should there be one? Anyone old enough to remember The Troubles knows that the social, economic and political context there has changed irrevocably notwithstanding the desultory activities of a tiny fringe element.

The violence was in GB and NI, not Eire. Why are the EU so concerned about how we run our affairs in the UK when we are no longer members of the EU? Nobody wants, or needs, a hard border, so no need for a backstop. Get over it already!

Junker said they'd ignore the border issue if we allowed the French access to our water, the only time TM has said no to them...... So the border is purely a blackmail tool.

In a no deal scenario there would be no opportunity for a backstop or alternative arrangements until a trading agreement was sorted. So yes, it's clearly the responsible thing to do. Just not the thing he wants us to do.

The Tories have a confidence & supply agreement costing the taxpayer £1bn, Julia. So yes, they do negotiate with terrorists.https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/dup-conservatives-northern-ireland-coalition-ulster-defence-association-paramilitaries-peace-process-a7782631.html …

And the EU says it is all about peace. What nonsense. It's bought violence and dissent.

But OUR PM is working for the terrorists, because is as clear as daylight she isn't working for the people of this country , and so far has refused to implement our democratic will as per the result of the 2016 referendum
