Actually, the only thing that really matters in a democracy is for everyone to respect the outcome of free and democratic votes. Luckily for us, our democracy doesn’t depend on the quality of our QCs...https://twitter.com/JMPSimor/status/1091779518241611778 …

I've been thinking today that the only thing that really matters in a democracy is the quality of its politicians and its media/journalists.

Yep the journalistic equivalent of sticking one’s fingers in your ears and saying “lalalalala I’m not listening to you” is really entering in to an adult conversation. Would you have Femi on your show to discuss the issues at hand?

I’ve had Femi on my show many times. I no longer wish to engage with him on Twitter. Which is my prerogative. He knows why.

Great, maybe a bit of decorum would have been better instead of a childish response?

Of course, free speech is the cornerstone of western democracy. But the right to reply or to be held to account is equally important. A public platform such as twitter will entice challenges to everything one says. Thank you for engaging with me, I’ve enjoyed our interaction.

Free speech is fine unless it's full of lies, that when challenged are not retracted or argued. The Brexit bollocks taints democracy

Parliament are still arguing over Brexit, why shouldn’t the public? Have all the issues been resolved? What if lies are used to settle arguments, is that ok?
