I can't help but feel that every time well-respected and influential national broadcasters and journalists use such childish descriptors as "remoaner" - the nation's intellectual health plummets to new and depressing depths.

I think it feels pretty horrible to every EU national who is still waiting on their fate to be decided. But thank you for the polite response!

Old hat. The government's "default" position is to grant, not refuse, settled status. Merely 3 criteria: - prove their ID - whether they have criminal convictions - whether they live in the UKhttps://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-44553225 …

Perhaps if those remainers had decided to accept the democratic vote made 2 years ago and actually backed their country and got behind the deal maker's to get the best deal possible instead of obstruct it, we would not be in this mess.
-
How should they have 'backed/got behind' the country? By doing what?
-
By creating a united front and backing what was voted for. You don't wake up the day after a GE and decide that it must be re-done because you didn't get the result you want. If we all pull in one direction, we are better, it's a very simple philosophy
-
But in a practical sense, what does that involve? I'm not involved in the negotiations. It really doesn't matter if I 'back' it or not.
-
Showing a united front to the EU would have shown them that we would not be pushed around, which is precisely what is now happening. The PM has no mandate under which to negotiate. They are bullying her and it's because her position is weakened by a fractured country.
-
But again, what does that involve actually *doing*? The EU doesn't know or care who I am anyway...but even if it did, how would I contribute to a united front?

And thats what we have done. Took 45 years, mind you, but we have finally changed our mind.
-
well done, and that means we're free to do it again. That's democracy.
-
See you in 45.

Remoaning as from March 29th should probably result in an ASBO.
-
Mob rule and martial law. Punishment for dissent? Not a Far Right authoritarian coup at all this Brexit thing.
-
"Far right". LOL. It's a joke! FFS
-
That's how people get hurt. They start off as jokes. People have been killed already. Hard to tell with you bunch of loons.
-
People have been killed over Brexit? Errmmm… where?
-
Oh FFS, I just noticed. You actually think Cultural Marxism is a thing (In reality it's a Far Right conspiracy theory dreamed up on Neo Nazi websites) I'll leave you with this. Anyway, I say we boycott all Brexit supporting business and Brexiteers back of the line for rationing
