Brexit fact: if your daughter can’t get her cancer drugs after Brexit @DrJMGF then who exactly do you think will be stopping those drugs from getting to the UK? This won’t happen unless the EU decides to risk British lives. Your daughter will get her vital drugs. https://t.co/ncX77Lso9V

Nothing to do with the EU! The UK has to import radioactive isotopes with very short half-lifes. Any delay caused by border checks reduces their therapeutic or diagnostic effect. No deal needs to be ruled out now!
-
Of course this is where we are told we will not enforce border checks for said items. Of course this entirely consistent with 'taking back control of our borders blah blah blah'. Also ignores fact that some delay will be inevitable unless we wave EVERYTHING through
-
Canada and US has about 310 billion/y of trade goods both ways; roughly about what the EU and UK do. With Trusted Trader programs and pre-inspection programs, goods flow smoothly and almost without interruption. The UK and EU will have identical standards, it should be easy.
-
These deals take time. Sure, in the medium to long term such deals can be created. But in the short term there's an issue, particularly with our currently chaotic government.
-
Why would it take time though? Two trade partners with the exact same standards. If both sides agree to maintain these standards for various trade deals between them it should be quick and easy. The only change would be setting up some random good and paperwork inspections.
-
-
You are being deliberately obtuse. Of course there will be trade, no matter what happens. The EU is not just going to write off their 340B/y UK trade anymore then then UK will give up its 275B/y to the EU. Trade is is in the best interest of both, so there will be a trade deal.
-
And of course we could wave stuff through but as retailers said today, the EU will likely enforce export controls their side

So basically: customs barriers, new regulatory barriers, breakdown of supply chains, radiation, refrigeration, price rises - all points that have been raised by hospitals & pharmaceutical companies that you could have easily researched, but you couldn’t be bothered, could you?

True, but it doesn't take much effort to find out this info. It's just a basic Internet search and she could have found the answers to the question she pretended to ask - had she been seriously interested in answering it honestly rather than making a 'Project Fear' Brexit point
-
You're wasting your time. Hartley-Dooda will just parrot "Project Fear", like all these self-deluded right wing shills and hacks.
-
Oh I know. It wasn't for her

We're downgrading our trading arrangements from premium (87% on SM&CU & WTO+++; 13% WTO only) to basic (100% WTO only). This has repercussions on quotas & time for transit, as there's a lot more red-tape for WTO only transactions. Some meds don't have a long enough shelf-life.
-
And it's not ALL drugs. There's a list of those NHS anticipates having difficulties sourcing.
-
Do you have such a list? Might be useful to those of us concerned. I am so surprised the
@JuliaHB1 has not understood the reasoning behind concern re shortages. Seems like that should be a first before minimising the concerns of the public. ?due diligence -
It's not public. Each person has to speak to their GP/pharmacist, who will be able to advise them. Govt also says in event of
#NoDealBrexit it will trigger the 'serious shortage protocol' allowing pharmacists to dispense against a protocol instead of prescription i.e. diff meds. -
I’ve spoken to mine and they are all relaxed about access to medication.....no problem
-
You're one nuclear family amongst millions. Very happy that you and yours are OK, but please recognise others are not so fortunate and belittling their concerns with admonitions to "be optimistic" can come across as patronising, whether you intend it that way or not.
-
Of course- it will depend on how common the medication is, shelf-life and place of manufacture. Not sure supply systems re localities like is there better supply in cities or not etc.
