I know this will piss some people off but Tony Blair is still the best Prime Minister of my lifetime. He transformed this country for the better but it became trendy to slag him off. If we’d have stuck to his lessons, none of this crap would’ve happened.

They aren’t migrants. They are fellow European citizens.
-
I think you’ll find they’re both.

It is only uncontrolled as tory govt chose not to use the laws available to them. So yes in a sense uncontrolled, but not uncontrollable. Important difference!!

Poland and nine other countries became EU members in 2004, when Blair was PM

Wah wah wah, foreigners, etc...

I’m wah wah wah’ing, but plenty of people have done and did in May 2016, which is the point to which Julia was alluding

Great so brits got the chance to live love, trade and work freely in 10 additional countries. Why do people forget it is reciprocal?
-
I think you’ll find that most people don’t learn to speak Romanian in school and the minimum wage there is 9x lower than here. So you’re not going to get the same amounts of brits moving there as they do here.

The sinister voice of the right wing media pipes up with the real reason most of these
#brexitclowns voted leave. Demonisation of anyone not British, to blame all the day to day problems on. Keep prodding the dog, Julia until it snaps.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

And here we go again, Julia, falling back on the embarassing and shameful argument of blaming our nation's problems on people from other countries who come here to work.

Still hate the immigrants despite the fact that every independent body shows that our economy has made billions in profit thanks to their arrival. What could your reason for xenophobia be?

The UK, Ireland and Sweden were the only EU countries to allow FOM in 2004, 2007 and 2013 when new countries joined the EU. Parliament was sovereign on this and voted not to impose restrictions

That is the problem with Blair. Yes he introduced a better form of Labour but opening the borders is unforgivable

Freedom of Movement was established in 1992 with the signing of the Treaty of Maastrict. Signed by John Major. It's a Tory policy.

(a) Half migrants were from outside EU - we could have had greater limits (b) we had the ability to exercise much greater control on EU job seekers (c) but May, when Home Secretary, did neither.
