Nope, this wasn’t the ballot paper I got in 2016.pic.twitter.com/9dDABstgiy

So Vote Leave garnered votes by promising something it was impossible to deliver? Let me ask again, on what basis is there a mandate for no deal Brexit when Vote Leave campaigned on there being a deal in place before leaving? There is no such mandate, is there?
If the organisation you're meant to negotiate with make it impossible to do then you have to opt for no deal. Your point is that the Leave campaign were too trusting of the EU. I think that we agree on.
That isn't my point. My point is the one I have made over and over again; that Vote Leave campaigned on the basis that a deal would be in place before we left the EU.
And the government said it would implement the result. People assume third parties play ball. They don't. It doesn't change the result of the vote.
Implement the result. Fine. But don't pretend that a mandate exists for no deal or that people voted to leave and not for a deal. Because they were told that there would be a deal.
You keep refering to 'Vote Leave' said... but from memory there were several groups for leave. I don't think anyone assumed that if we voted to leave the 'leave campaign' mandate would be applied in full.
It was the official campaign for leaving the EU.
Not the 'official' but the lead leave group designated by the Electoral commission, allowing equal exposure etc to both sides. My point remains that people knew they're answering a question not voting for the leave campaign to be in power.
Leaving without a deal is actually the purest form of leaving the EU.
Any possibility of no deal would have prevented the actual referendum from taking place Either admit that your imperial ideology is all that matters or accept the fact that it was an ill thought out protest vote with terrible consequences
You're referring to the future trade deal, not the withdrawal deal. That could have been done and dusted before triggering A50. Adam's point remains.
He has clearly forgotten that Gina Miller prevented that from happening
Adam, to take no deal off the table would mean the EU would just need to keep saying No Deal to ensure we remain and guarantee them billions
Julia, why do you refuse to just answer the polite gentleman's question he's stated in clear English several times?
Getting there. She's getting there!!!! Almost there. Just swap the word legitimate for something else and you'll be there. I believe in you jhb.
Umm no, the EU said they wouldn't negotiate a trade deal until we had left. The WA is not a trade deal.
Julia, this is correct. The 2016 ref doesn’t provide a democratic mandate for any specific form of Brexit. That is the cause of the current chaos; everyone had different ideas and no single, specified idea has a majority vs remain in parliament or in the country.
