BREAKING: MPs vote 303 to 296 in favour of Yvette Cooper's amendment to the Finance Bill. Another blow for the PM and shows strength of feelling in the Commons against no-deal Brexit.

all irrelevant. The British people were asked and never consented to giving away our Parliamentary sovereignty to the EU.

Not sure what you want me to explain. The British people can control what the British Parliament does but they can’t control what the EU does. Which bit of this confuses you?

Deep sighs. Read that tweet in context. The only reason British parliamentary sovereignty matters is because it is controlled by the British PEOPLE. It doesn’t have any value without the consent of the people. Genuinely perplexed why you can’t understand this.

We had a general election in 2017. The British people chose to give no party a majority, ensuring the need for consensus. Genuinely perplexed why you can’t understand this.

Yes, we the people voted in these MPs. (None of whom stood on a no deal Brexit platform). They are voting against forcing a national catastrophe. That's democracy, hun.

Sure, but the Lords in unelected, and people knew that before voting to give them total power over policy. If unelected politicians were the problem, we probably should have got rid of the Lords, since they’re closer to us than EU bureaucrats and unelected. Oh well, good luck!
