If he thinks the EU is so great doesn’t Bloomberg campaign for the US to join a political union with Canada and Mexico then?
-
This was his quote in a recent interview "If you want jobs, we need more global trade. If you want more jobs, we have to keep NAFTA in place, so that Canada and Mexico and the United States together can create more jobs"
-
'Global trade'. Not 'tied to a high tariff political union that you have to pay a fortune to be in'.
-
For a fortune read £0.37 per £1000 spent by the government, that fortune?

@DanielJHannan yeah but what do JLR, Nissan, Ford, Toyota, Honda , Mini know about global trade?

I always go looking for the second derivative, or the underlying motivation. Why do people behave the way they do? In this case, why would Sir Anthony have it in for the EU? A record fine for price-fixing. That might be a motivation?https://www.theguardian.com/business/2000/dec/22/6 …
-
And do you do the same with those who are pro-EU, many of whom receive huge financial benefits from the EU?
-
Yes. As they receive huge financial benefits from being in the EU and employ huge numbers of people, why are we planning to leave?
-
Once again I don't think she understands what she is saying when she writes it...this time that all businesses benefit from bringing members of the largest single market in the world...but shouldn't appreciate it.

Excellent letter; I would trust him over ALL of our politicians any day of the week. Plus, toy JCB’s are my grandson’s favourite

-
Can you see his mistake though? He doesn’t “buy from Australia on WTO terms”. His procurement team buy from Australia using the EU- Australia Partnership Framework. This has been in place since 2008. It’s a DEAL. That’s the opposite of NO Deal.
-
Of which the lion's share of countries have already agreed to roll over the existing ones until new ones can be agreed
-
So, NOT under WTO terms then?
Even though, apparently, WTO terms are fine? #mixedmessages -
I'm saying that most countries and you can get the list from DTI website have agreed to roll over existing deals. Therefore moving to WTO shouldn't scare anyone as tariffs have already effectively dealt with via a currency devaluation and it wouldn't be pure WTO anyway.
-
Well, that sounds good. Sorry to go on about this, but “agreeing to roll over an existing deal” sounds like a deal to me. So when some Brexiteer shouts “No deal is fine we’ll use WTO rules”, will you correct them? I mean, it’s not pure WTO after all.
-
The Headbangers at both ends are just that. I am sick of both sides at the moment. I've nailed my colours to the mast and will accept EFTA as a compromise position but only without a CU. I would speak with
@paulrey99 who very knowledgeable and normally happy to help though. -
Regarding "No Deal", that refers to not signing the Withdrawal Agreement, not no deals whatsoever, although clearly EU are only going to agree the minimum needed to protect themselves. But I've concluded they are not going to offer much better even via an FTA.
