You just don’t get this do you? You don’t insure against things you do to yourself. The point here is that, if your policy requires the enactment of Part 2 of the Civil Contingencies Act, then it probably isn’t a very good policy.

Soooo by this logic you take out insurance because you are determined to crash your car...? F@ck me sideways, how does your cerebral cortex manage to keep you upright?

Except what Heather is saying is more like buying insurance for burning down your own house. You don't have to waste money on this unless you plan to burn down your own house. There's a reason why insurance companies do not offer this kind of cover...

She’s unaware I guess that the net payment to to EU in 2017 was £8.9 billion - more than twice the sum she’s complaining about.

Just like the backstop. We hope we can solve the problems with MacFac or whatever but it's best to have insurance just in case!

I can only assume Julia has never read the small print of her insurance policies..... Insurers don't cover self inflicted harm.

Hey Julia where are the govt getting these billions of pounds from
-
Well as leaving on WTO terms saves us £39 billion plus (which was the offered bung to get a FTA which failed) we’ll now be £37 billion better off. Result.
-
We could save that but we may find we are being chased for it in international courts. Imagine, I go into a pub, order 40 pints of ale, 35 meals and 5 plates of chips. When it's served my mates & I walk out. Unfair? Yes, because that money is for things UK signed up 4
