Suggesting that the U.K. should renege on commitments made to allies and partners. A bit like when moving house you don’t pay off the mortgage and utility bills. See how far that gets you. Yet more Brexit fantasyland. #brexit

No we have made financial commitments to the EU. We should honour them. It’s really very simple. If we don’t honour them, forget Canada+++++. Won’t happen. But then that’s what no deal means now.

Like giving some of it to the Northern Councils for a Northern Rail Network that would stop London being the centre of the world. Like devolving decision making in general to Local Councils rather than everything being decided by Civil Servants in Westminster.

Totaly agree with you. We need to move more activities out of London and into other great cities/regions. We don't need so many government depts in London. Other countries don't have everything concentrated in their capital cities.

London is like a huge drain sucking everything into it. Unless that model can be broken & Leeds, Manchester and other cities get the infrastructure it needs, the road congestion, rail congestion will never be tackled. Bureaucrats north of Luton are competent too!

The new currency of debate appears to have become medical procedures; I will see your 10,000 hip-replacements and raise you 2,000 nurses and 27 ophthalmologists.

As ever, julia goes for headline figure and does not go for detail. She does not give a toss about the costs per overhead for each business that a no deal brexit will bring because of an end to frictionless, JIT supply chains.

JIT supplies are hindered more by road congestion than anything else. Build factories and produce parts in the UK. JIT was devolved to increase employment in the EU. BMW Bumper made in EU then to UK for specialised work, returned to eu for polishing then back to UK. Just stupid

U.K. treasury annual income is currently £776b, so it represents less than 5%. Wouldn’t take many months of recession to wipe that gain out.
