How on earth did I manage to travel to the US, Costa Rica, South Africa and Thailand in the last few years? Last time I looked, they weren’t in the EU either... I must have been imagining those holidays.https://twitter.com/davidallengreen/status/1072398263360339968 …

Julia, there is a world of difference between a travel visa and a working visa. I recently spoke to a young American man who had a hellish time getting his work visa for UK, despite being married to a Brit. FOM works both ways. It is both a privilege and a right.
@peoplesvote_uk -
If FoM is a ‘right’ why is it confined to the EU by the EU? Why does the EU discriminate? Let’s eliminate visas altogether and have worldwide FoM. Close down border controls. Good idea?
-
It's not confined to the EU. Russia, North Korea and the US could strike a deal to allow FoM between countries. Put your straw man away Vlad.

FoM makes it easy for employees and talent to flow to the work when necessary and for as long as necessary. New restrictions will be added to the growing cons side of the business case for setting up or staying in UK. Businesses will go elsewhere. Businesses are going elsewhere.
-
This is correct. My friend's pharma department has now lost 8 EU staff. With no FoM the company would then have to pay £kks for each new work visa needed. Good work JHB !

Can't believe how many people have (deliberately?) missed that THE EU HAS ALREADY SAID TRAVEL VISAS WON'T BE REQUIRED AFTER BREXIT. It's up there with the fact the NHS is getting that sodding £350m extra week.pic.twitter.com/E4pY7OLSLp

Will it be better than the current arrangement? I was able to work in Germany for 6 months without requiring any paperwork other than the contract between myself and the company. Didn't need any visas for it.
-
Yes, it's not Julia's far-flung hols I'm worried about, but my ability to compete with other Europeans for jobs and contracts within the EU.

I am a resident British taxpayer. How does FOM cost you?

There is some evidence that the lowest earners have suffered a small amount of wage decline due to immigration (not just EU immigrants, but all immigrants). But this is offset by the number of jobs available, which is already going down even before we leave.

You have a genuine grievance against your bosses. But what makes you think your situation will be improved when investment, tax take and number of jobs decrease if we leave the EU?

Good job you got out in front of that one. Really saved yourself from embarrassment there.

So you’re happy with freedom of movement then
-
So you don’t understand the difference between visa free travel and free movement? Better to keep quiet and let people think you’re an idiot than open your mouth and confirm it.
-
Ok Vlad the brexit moron
-
If a moron understands the difference and you don’t, what does that make you? “An imbecile has an IQ of 21 to 50, a moron of 51 to 70 and an idiot of 0 to 20.” It appears you’re an imbecile. Congratulations Sunshine.
-
....unless you’re an idiot.
-
Mmm, my point was about the UK accepting reciprocal visa free travel from the the EU but I know you brexit morons don’t understand nuance.
