Woman on @Skynews right now talking absolute bollocks about how we won’t have women’s rights after we leave the EU. Because of course women’s rights didn’t exist in the UK until 1973. Sigh. It’s 2016 all over again, isn’t it?

The sex discrimination act came into effect in 1975. The equal pay act in 1970. How ever did we manage without the EU to look after us? 🤔https://twitter.com/JuliaHB1/status/1072111162563706880?s=19 …

Its absolutely pathetic how little faith many people have in their country and perversely have so much love for a corrupt institution such as the EU/EC

Do people know any history? Voting for women in UK: 1918. Voting for women in France: 1945.

Julia, women have only had the Vote in the last 100 yrs, and 2 years ago George Osbourne stole the pensions from 3.8 million 1950s women, the Tories are ffffffffffffffin repulsive and its time that you woke up #waspi #BackTo60pic.twitter.com/8br8sxcVHJ

So, all women alive today have the vote. And women achieved an equal pension age with men, at 65, in 1995. That was 23 years ago

The 1995 pension arrangement was due to come into force in 2026 and Osborne brought it forward by 10 yrs, he brags it was the easiest £38bn that he had ever saved and then gave £3bn away in tax cuts to millionaire Toriespic.twitter.com/F290rM8tT7

No. 1995 Act was due to start in 2010, and it did. It was due to complete in 2020, but brought forward to 2018

It was the rise to 66 in the 2007 Act, introduced by Labour, that was supposed to start in 2024 and complete in 2026. But that Act assumed the rise to 65 completed in 2020. So the 2007 Act rise would be only 1 year for women, not 6.
