Two fundamental flaws in claims from those trying to thwart Brexit: 1. There needs to be a compromise between Leave & Remain. Nope, it was a binary choice in the referendum. Leave won. There wouldn’t have been a compromise option to keep Leavers happy if Remain had won. 1/3

And that’s why it doesn’t matter whether MPs voted to Leave in 2016 or whether they think Brexit is a good idea or not. It’s totally irrelevant. It is their moral duty to the British people - and to democratic principles - to deliver Brexit. 3/3

But you said taking back control was what the referendum was about. So please clarify Is it Parliament taking back control or is it the people?
-
'the people' in case literally know nothing! I give you your average Leave voter (sadly they are still allowed a vote) >>> https://www.lbc.co.uk/radio/presenters/james-obrien/caller-is-sick-of-eu-rules-but-cant-name-one/ … to save UK

The 2016 Referendum was ADVISORY. That is a Legal fact. In any case Public opinion now backs REMAIN (Survation and YouGov).
-
How many times have I seen this puerile argument? Regardless of the status of the referendum....Leaving the
#EU has now been signed into LAW by the Queen
-
And that Law can be reversed.
-
Not so easy as you might think....and certainly not in the time left.....fortunately

-
Nothing in this situation is easy. Everything is difficult.

MP's talk of parliamentary sovereignty but they made the sovereign decision to give the power to the people. People voted to take back control for themselves, not to hand it to MP's who many voters despise.

This is true, but isn’t it a bit odd that the more than 400 constituencies that voted Leave in 2016 didn’t take their chance to vote in a Leave supporting MP in 2017 election?
-
General Election was about more than Leave. But both main parties had leave manifestos.
-
Each MP in every constituency seemed to mentio their personal Brexit stance on their leaflet. Given people in favour of direct democracy wouldn’t want MPs to simply blindly follow their party line, if you don’t want Remainer MPs, don’t vote for them
-
Reality both main parties in the UK were elected to deliver
#Brexit the present May deal doesn't deliver upon the manifesto. As to Corbyn he's all over the place and a joke.

MPs hate the fact that the people are sovereign. They much prefer the 'parliamentary sovereignty' that allows them to 'do what they know is best for us'. Can't have the great unwashed making decisions on our future now can we?

Also they stood on manifestos promising to leave the SM and CU. They should have said no at that point.

If the MP’s correctly represented the constituents that voted for them, we would have left already!

"MPs voted to give *us* the final say in a referendum" No, they quite specifically voted to give us an Advisory Referendum, from which nothing need be done. That was confirmed by the High Court. Parliament then triggered Article 50. Nowhere has parliament voted that we must leave

No they didn't. David Cameron promised to implement the result. Like any policy commitment it's the Government's duty to try to persuade Parliament to enact the legislation necessary for its implementation, but Parliament is under no duty to do so against its better judgment.
-
Difficult to argue ‘better’ judgement! 2/3 of constivoted Leave. We elect MPs to represent us not to claim that they know ‘better’ than us!
-
What exactly do you think represent means?
-
‘The UK public elects Members of Parliament (MPs) to represent their interests and concerns in the House of Commons. ...650 MPs, each representing ...one constituency.’ Liz Truss M.P. If a Ref I expect M.P. To Represent the maj Constituency view, or maj decision of the country.
