Er, maybe the good folk of Sunderland who voted Leave in 2016 trusted that their decision would be implemented and that their vote in an actual ballot box might count for more than a few random emails to their local MP two years later, Bridget?https://twitter.com/bphillipsonMP/status/1070659918498357248 …

As a Sunderland MP, a lot of people think my city’s a Leave city. Figures on constituents who’ve contacted me in recent weeks: ▪️51% now calling for a People’s Vote to stay in the EU ▪️29% want a ‘clean break’ ◾️20% believe PM’s deal better than no deal @peoplesvote_uk

I wonder who Bridget Phillipson speaks to around here (Sunderland Resident here) as I’ve never seen her out and about campaigning and everyone I’ve spoke to is still happy to have voted leave!

Don’t worry Miss Phillipson, come the next GE if you win your seat again I’m sure you’ll be more than happy to accommodate a “people’s vote” over and over again until we get rid of you. 😊

A statistics professor of mine used to say 'some people use statistics like drunks use lampost, for support rather than illumination'. The ultimate poll is called a national vote, we had one.

I'm a born and bred north-easterner with a lot of family living in Sunderland & thereabouts. I don't know a single person who wants to remain in the EU nor wants a second referendum (my sister is a full blown labour party & union activist for 30 years)

61% of Sunderland voted to leave. Yet we have another MP who thinks they know best, instead of doing their job by representing the wishes of their constituents. It's disgraceful.

According to the official #EURef tally some 82k #Sunderland voters cast their ballots for #Leave, as opposed to 52k who voted for #Remain. Has @bphillipsonmp received those sorts of numbers in recent weeks? Or is it just her excuse for ignoring the #EURef outcome? Democrats eh?

I’m from Sunderland, voted leave and didn’t respond to any of the local MPs attempt to spin the north east vote to leave. How many others did the same thing? Local Labour MPs do not have the people’s interests at heart. If they did the north east would have thrived under Blair

That is a really sad but very true statement you put there. The trust has been on the decline for quite a few years. Mp’s are on par with second hand car dealers and estate agents at the moment. If they ignore this vote then they will slip to the very bottom.
