Hospitals (St Thomas's was one I believe) have been evacuated because of burnt toast setting off the smoke alarms. Costs the NHS a fortune when that happens. If people are so stupid they can't operate a toaster then I worry for patient care.

Too many people with pretend jobs making work for themselves to justify their salary.

8 steps???? Well there you go, far too simple, it will lead to all sorts of confusion. Without a chart of toast colours to measure against and an idea of what the toast is to used for, more will be wasted than eaten. Maybe the hospital should buy in toasted bread?

Ask my eldest - she takes that long to put on her shoes that she must be following a 24 point guide!

You say that as if it's only one person David 😉 It's a team effort - meetings, working groups, consultations etc necessitating a lengthy policy statement & several pages of Risk Assessment - no mean task for several 40k+ managers Due to criticism - need to employ PR consultant

Yes, you're quite right. My children will be working well into their eighties to cover all those final salary pensions. Poor loves.

I'm a clinician and if I thought a nurse need written instructions on how to toast a slice of bread she wouldn't be going anywhere near an infusion pump and would in all likelihood not be working on my ward.

Issue is that there has to be a risk assessment and training for any job...imagine if you burnt your hand on the toaster and then claimed you hadn’t been trained to do that part of your job? The lawyers would have a field day...#racetothebottom

It could be interpreted that way...almost certainly would be PAT tested and if you use it as part of your job I guess it counts as equipment 🤷🏼‍♂️
