I am so beyond angry with MPs tonight. The entire bloody reason why voters demanded a referendum on Brexit was because MPs didn’t represent the people’s views on the EU. They still don’t. They asked us what we wanted. We told them. Now implement the Brexit we asked for.

For starters - an end to the powers of the ECJ over UK courts.

And how do you know that's what all leave voters wanted? There's one in this thread, for example, who didn't vote for that. I'm sure he's not the only one.https://twitter.com/g_wiglet/status/1070103555196010501?s=19 …

I voted for the "remain" kind of Brexit, but I would be happy enough with the "remain in all but name (Norway)" kind - at least we wouldn't have idiotic MEPs such as Farage trying to undermine the European Parliament at every turn

I don't. I only know for certain what I wanted when I voted Brexit.

Which is why the "we voted for X kind of Brexit" is such a redundant claim.

It's no more "redundant" than the claim that a party that wins a parliamentary majority has a "mandate" to implement its election manifesto in its entirety. My sense is however, that amongst Brexiteers there is broad agreement that Brexit means an absolute end to ECJ interference.

You're adding to your sense all the time. And indeed I think that's what has happened since the referendum. But before the referendum many influential leavers would point to Norway and Switzerland as happy non-EU countries fit to emulate. And that's just a fact.

Dan Hannan and a couple of others did, yes, but that wasn’t the official campaign message on which voters made their decision.

Not "a couple of others" but a longstanding trope. Even Farage, at one point. I got tired of pinning out to them that this would mean that we (in the now common phrase) would become rule takers.

There were two leave campaigns. Farage also held Norway up as a model.
