I think if you put a picture of George Soros on something like this, you know what you're doing given the repeated coverage. (Why not Tony Blair? Andrew Adonis?) Also am not inclined to give http://Leave.EU the benefit of the doubt given their past work...
Yes, I accept that. If in doubt, don’t. I wouldn’t use any references to him to avoid just such assumptions or accusations. But is it intrinsically anti Semitic to use his photo & those words? When I say “global elite”, it’s not in that context & probably isn’t for most people
For most people, no, but for the antisemites and conspiracy theorists it is a clear nod and a wink. Not that the need much encouraging.
Yes, agreed.
He’s an evil bastard. Who cares what religion he is....
We must be able to call him out ... someone’s religion shouldn’t protect them from finger pointing or home truths
1. There are plenty of other funders, who are British and probably known who could have been attacked in this way, but were not. 2. Leave EU delights in far right successes in Europe (Hungary, France etc) 3. They're obsessed by Soros now that it's become a thing the far right do
and in any even it doesn't even matter if 99% don't know who he is (you could be right easily on that), they're making the link and promoting it so as to make their followers know who to blame - so next time they blame Soros more people will know he is the Great Enemy
Soros must be the wealthiest and most outspoken anti-Brexit donor. It's not anti-Semitic to criticise Soros on that basis is it? His religion is surely irrelevant.https://www.theguardian.com/business/2018/may/29/george-soros-drastic-action-needed-for-eurozone-to-survive?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Copy_to_clipboard …
It's more the way he's portrayed. You can criticize a funder without being anti semitic, but the way he's fixated on by the far right is what begs the question. I believe there have been several funders who've given a few hundred thousand post ref but they are not well known
Fair enough. But we have to be careful not to label all criticism of Soros as Far Right. I think the anger primarily comes from the fact extremely wealthy individuals are intervening in our democratic choices.
Either way, we need to think about how political campaigns are funded. Something like the Australian ban on foreign funding (although this is probably narrower than it seems) would be worth considering.
Absolutely. No international banks, dark money, millionaires or billionaires and strict limits.
Well, Soros is blatant about his massive funding of the Loser's Vote, a shameless attempt to force the annulment of the referndum result. He should be utterly condemned for this alone-I don't care what race he is.
