Oh yes, HUGE congrats @theresa_may on managing to sell out our country AND make us pay £39billion for the privilege. You must be very proud.https://twitter.com/SkyNewsBreak/status/1067061928353325056 …

And what happened to the equity in buildings etc, that seems to have gone very quiet
-
I hear that the 39bn is a legal obligation. Where can I read about this? The inside pages of the Beano?
-
Is it the bar tab?
-
It may be a legal obligation, but then again, what if we just told them we're not paying it and asked them what they're going to do about it?
-
No other country would want to deal with us if we renege on this payment. It may be legally dubious, but Great Britain must show we still maintain a degree of integrity, even though common sense escapes us for now.
-
We’re reneging on NOTHING. There is no treaty provision for this or any amount. The EU makes it up as they go along and our dim, clueless PM accepts it all.
-
The eu is a dictatorship - nothing more!

"£39bn is supposed to be in return for a trade deal." Incorrect.
-
Totally correct. Funny how there is never any mention of the eu assets we are owed. That’s why
@realDonaldTrump told appeaser May to sue the European Union -
£39 billion is 1. The UK’s contribution to EU annual budgets up to 2020, 2. Payment of outstanding commitments; and 3. Financing liabilities up to the end of 2020. Why not mention what assets we are owed that we could sue for?
-
The HOL has already stated if we leave on WTO terms we owe absolutely nothing. Zilch. Nanno. Diddly squat.
-
Ok. But since you mentioned them, what are the assets we could sue the EU for?
-
Our share of money held in ECB for starters. How about our share of junckers expensive and vast wine cellars. So vast in fact when he goes down there he can only manage to find one brown shoe and one black shoe.

No one has mentioned our £50 billion in assets. £50,000,000,000.00 of UK taxpayers money.
-
May or Ollie the commie probably wrote those off on day one.

The £39 Billon is not in return for a trade deal, it is the monies already committed to.

-
Didn’t the House of Lords report that we aren’t legally obligated to pay anything?
-
Legally, yes. But what would the long term impact be?
-
That’s the big question, what would be the impact of not paying it!

-
The impact of paying would be the collapse of the Conservative Party. Many could never vote for them again. We do NOT owe £39billion. Why don’t we demand our share of the EU infrastructure to which we have contributed over the last 40 years? We owe them nothing.
-
The same reason that you don’t get to take the cross trainers home when you leave the gym. We do get to keep all the projects built in the U.K.
-
What if you paid for some of the Crosstrainers?
-
You haven’t. You’ve paid a membership fee to use the club and it’s equipment, but the club still carries on whether you’re a member or not.
