Britain's best-paid boss has had a pay rise to £265m. But, shhhhhhhhh, don’t tell anyone that the boss is a... woman! #FightTheGenderPayGaphttps://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-46289499 …

Let's hope she donates a sizeable portion of that to @samaritans to help with their huge workload with people wanting to commit suicide because they just can't cope with their addiction to gambling.

I'm not going to argue tax relief on that point, but you have to admit that too many people have suffered because of the way they've made it too easy for people to bet what they cannot afford. I'm glad of the reform in the betting industry.

Good luck to her, but these salaries are obscene, and exacerbate the anger of the low paid, many who are doing important work and indeed many risk their lives in public service.

She set the business up and part owns it. And it's not a salary anyway, it's total remuneration including dividends. Even then, another way of looking at this is that in that form (salary/dividend), it means she'll be payin about £100 million in tax on it.

If it is declared as salary and dividend as reported she won't have a choice.

I'd love to know the size of the ego that thinks it should be paid £267m as a salary. Man, woman, eggbeast, chocolate monster, it doesn't matter

Were she head of a housebuilder, she'd be forced to resign by a 'storm of protest'... But a gambling firm? That's fine. 🙄

I’m furious! I’m a man and I get paid approximately £265m less than she does - surely this is evidence of a massive wage gap in womens’ favour?
