Those Theresa May Brexit negotiations in full: May: Can we get a good trade deal when we leave the EU? EU: Non. May: Ok, can we just leave the EU then? EU: Non. May: Er, can we pay you £40bn to pretend we’re leaving the EU and you can still tell us what we do? EU: Mais oui!pic.twitter.com/oCj5RemaBc

Hope you give the same advice to anyone stuck in a relationship they don’t want to be in anymore because the other side insists they stay.

The Leave Extremists instigated this chaos.... This IS what you voted for.... You chose to self harm the UK, you'll just have to deal with it... As much as you'd like it ALL your own way, you can't....

No we voted to leave if people like the #FBPE lot had accepted the result got behind the decision that would’ve shown the EU our unity which in turn would’ve got a good deal then the #FBPE lot could start a rejoin the EU party to get back in the EU.

Eventually, you will thank #FBPE for saving you from yourself. But, don't underestimate the leavers "lack of a plan" or foresight, as the real reason your dream failed to materialise.

Doubt I’ll be thankful if we bend the knee to the EU’s way. Been voting to leave the EU since 1997. Too many remain voters have put a spanner in the works Olly Robbins type of person this needed to be done by those that #believeinbrexit hence why Cameron stood down

Slightly over dramatic don't you think, we won't become occupied by an invading force you know. Your life will improve as it has over the last 40 years or so.

I agree all the might the Nazi’s had when this country had left its army on Dunkirk beach & they couldn’t beat our RAF or cross that 22 miles of water. My living standards have had to decrease due to the EU in the last 18-20 years. The EU is only 26 years old not 40!!

Why are you bearing a grudge from the 1940s? Most Germans weren't alive then? You could apply the same rule to the screw ups if the British Empire. We were the poor man of Europe in 1975 & we are again now, nr bottom of EU table.

Who said anything about the Germans? Was using the Nazi thing as an example of how we won’t get invaded.

As a net contributing nation and with a huge trade deficit with the EU, I fail to see how we didn't have a very strong negotiating position, we should have given the EU a take it or leave it ultimatum 2 weeks after the referendum.

You do understand that this is exactly what they tried? Davis and Johnson appeared here in Germany in the media and plenty of trade shows, constantly reminding us how much we would risk. They tried, but it didn't work. Because to us the integrity of the EU has priority.

The United Kingdom has never been an enthusiast member of the European club though, I would have thought you would have been glad to get rid of us, geographically and ideologically we have always been on the sides, not wanting to join in.

The UK aren't as unique as they think. There are enough other members who maybe didn't have the very same stance, but did profit from the UK's membership and counterbalance to France/Germany. I welcomed that balance too. That's not what I meant by "integrity" though. ;)

The simple fact is if you join a club, you should have a right to leave that club at a future date if you choose, especially if that club has changed in the interim. Much of the vote to leave wasn't so much about the EU though, but anger about the privileged metropolitan elite.

Absolutely. Nobody minds if a member wants to leave. It's quite absurd though if the member leaving the club, who contributed to creating the rules for the varying levels of membership or association, think that they'd deserve a special rule set, once when they are out.

And the EU as well as the Remainers put the available options on the table, long before the referendum. It was the Leavers who did insist that they'd easily get something different and better. It's not the duty of the EU to break its own rules because Leavers told lies.

You confuse leavers with the Conservative party, huge numbers of leave voters especially in the North and Midlands are Working class and dislike the Conservatives. The motivations of Conservative MP's and many leave voters are very different.
