Is @johnredwood 'arrogant' and 'undemocratic' then?

By that logic Julia,
@Jacob_Rees_Mogg & other 'leave' politicians in remain voting constituencies are also 'arrogant & undemocratic' too, n'eest-ce pas? -
Well no. They are following the referendum decision.
-
They're not representing their constituents properly, which unless the referendum wrote a brand new constitution, is what they're supposed to do. Actually that's how leavers are behaving, like an advisory referendum created a constitution.
-
The vote wasn't held using constituency boundaries
-
So it shouldn't matter that 'remain' mps are campaigning against the result then.
-
Iff they are Labour or Tory that is against their manifesto.
-
Manifestos change. And the Chequers Plan isn't a manifesto promise, neither is leaving without a deal.

Um, I know this is a silly question but in the Uk Democratic system, shouldn’t the MP’s do what the people want, not what THEY think is best for the Parliamentary Trough dwellers?
-
No. MPs are representatives not delegates. They are elected to do what THEY THINK is the best for their constituents and the country.
-
They gave up that right when they voted overwhelmingly to give the people a referendum. Having received the result of the ref they should now be actively trying to ensure Brexit not trying to thwart it at every turn.
-
No. They received advice(!) that the majority of voters want to leave the EU. They now need to assess what such a move would mean for the livelihood of the people and decide(!) how to move forward.
-
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, no matter how wrong you are. Just because it’s what YOU believe, it doesn’t make it right
-
We had the largest democratic vote this country has ever seen. We were promised by the government that the result would be abided by. We voted to leave the EU, that means the SM, CU and ECJ as explained to us by our leading politicians on both sides of the argument. ENDEX
-
That government then fell as Cameron resigned. Political promises are not binding on successive governments.
-
The government didn’t fall when Cameron resigned, it was still the conservatives in power but with a different leader.
