I totally agree. Being a dinner lady is not even a similar job so they should hush up.
-
This isn’t about dinner ladies. It’s about female employees, paid at a lower rate than men, by GCC.
-
different job different pay simple, or is that beyond your comprehension , I will give you a clue look at the job titles, BIN men , DINNER ladies
-
Basic error. The women I saw interviewed strike were all carers. Dinner ladies will be there too, but they are not ALL dinnerladies and this is NOT about dinner ladies v bin men.
-
again comprehension is beyond you , different jobs different pay
-
Carers doing same job/hours, regardless of gender, should = same pay.

Can I object to the phrase "dinner ladies"? It assumes the job is only for females. Perhaps they should be called food operatives?

These lovely sharing caring ladies could always join the military for less pay and put their lives on the line for Queen and country or simply become part of the real "man's world" . . . .pic.twitter.com/74i7ew9zqI

If they want a pay rise, ask for one. But to conflate that their jobs are worthy of the same remuneration as a bin man is ridiculous. Their jobs may be more worthy in some respects, but that may not reflect in their pay.

No JHB that is beneath your usual level. I am a Scot living in Scotland, females who do caring work that is vital should be recognised equally in salary.

Why are male dominated job roles valued, considered more important and paid more than female dominated job roles? In all sectors. Because men's money is bread winner and women's money is pin money- we have not removed ourselves from institutionalised sexist valuation of worth.

How is the value of a home care worker the same as a dinner lady?
