there is no FAST Lane. It's an overtaking lane. Lane 1 (nearside is the DRIVING Lane. All others are overtaking lanes.

The age of the driver will be interesting. It's usually an elderly male who should never have been on road. And usually one who's been told not to drive.

I'm approaching the age when have to renew and wonder how honest will be about my health. I hasten to add I'm ok at moment. Losing liscence would be a huge blow.

I think that's why perhaps some older people carry on driving beyond when it's safe for them to do so. Losing their car means losing their independence.

Ignoring the specifics of this. It happens because in the U.K. we treat a licence to drive as a right, not a privilege. Regular assessment drives should be compulsory.
