Why do they assume young people retain their political beliefs when they get older? Clearly people change once they realise all the tax they pay is wasted by incompetant politicians.
-
Why does anyone assume the political beliefs formed in youth will alter or soften as you get older? I formed my political opinions over a period in my teens. I am heading for 70 and as staunch in my socialist views now as I was then.

I think it applies to people who are able to keep developing and learning as they grow older. Clearly not everyone does.

I am sure Leavers are not the only ones popping their clogs!

And what better incentive to live longer than to annoy Remoaners....

They forget this - young people grow old, and we have an ageing population. So if age has to be a defining factor, the leave majority will only grow.
-
What if it's not age which is the defining factor? What if it's to do with the decade you're born in?
-
One would assume the generation which lived through a Europe at war with each other would be most motivated to retain EU membership.
-
You might assume that, but the stats prove your theory entirely wrong.

In 1975 the remainers won 67 - 33. So in 41 years public opinion of the European project has deteriorated enormously. Who can say that the trend will not continue in the next 40 years? Although I think the EU in it's current form will be long dead by then, anyway.

The European Union will collapse long before the Remoaners can overturn the Referendum.
