Extraordinary. The fire chief in charge of fighting the Grenfell inferno says she wouldn't change the fire brigade’s response - despite the fact that the deadly cladding meant that the standard “Stay Put” policy needlessly cost dozens of lives that night.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-45666960# …

And we’re those experts on the spot wearing fire suits plying hoses, or were they like you sitting on their arses giving an opinion without seeing the actual site.

Funny how you believe experts when it suits.

Could have lived. Saying ‘would have’ is too definite a statement.

That is baloney. Zero visibility and 72 people could've safely evacuated from 20 floors up, down a single staircase with hundreds of firefighters and tonnes of equipment going up? You're out of your depth commenting on something you know zip about.

It's penny-pinching Tory council that R mostly 2 blame 4 a decision on installing combustible sandwich panels. It's right 2 ask Y the fire service didn't more strongly challenge the design/decision on the panels. It's right 2 confront the architect +consultants who went with it.

The EXPERTS were not there on the night, how can you say would have lived? How do you know that? Deflection tactics at its finest!

Had the fire service realised this building was a gerry-built death-trap, I expect that they WOULD have told people to try to escape. And they would also have been prepared for the rapid progress of the flames, and been better able to contain them.

If the experts have it, why do you need to butt in?

Julia get your horrid Tory friends to stop cutting funding to these vital services! That’s the issue, that’s the problem! Stop being a Cnut!

Would that be the same experts saying the cladding was safe?

Experts. Holier than thou and well practised in hindsight. Dany Cotton and her colleagues did all they could that night, and now the predators crawl out to lay blame and critisise those who laid their life on the line that night. Pitiful.

There are always experts who with hindsight envisage alternative scenarios. Emergency services make decisions based on the best available information at the time; they don't always have the time to wait for the best information to be available.
-
The decision to shelter in place was made because tower blocks are designed for that to be safest, and as a result don't have fast mass evacuation routes. The LFB were not to know that someone had wrapped the building in highly flammable toxic plastic to make it look prettier.

I didn't know you were the new Marvel Super Hero.. "Captain hindsight" She followed usual procedures and didn't know about the cladding. You can only make decisions based off the information you have available to you.
