They should use their own time to protest..no take away students learning time which they are always saying how important it is..ie no holidays or time off in term time @

Yes Julia, the best time to demonstrate is when it inconveniences no one, and no one notices. Surprised you didn’t ask them to do it after dark in a National park.

'Unauthorised absences have a disruptive effect... any educational system expects people to keep to the rules' - the Supreme Court judging on absence during term time.

Granddaughter off today said to be for teacher training. They've only been back three weeks. I assume it's a cover for the strikers. I'd have more respect for it had they proceeded with it during the summer holidays.

These people should ask themselves what these heads have been doing since 1997 while our education system sinks in the mire. Oops, i almost forgot, getting huge salary increases.

Risky doing it on a school day.........what if they are not missed.... and the schools all work better without them ?

Absolutely right......they come down hard on hard working parents who need to take their kids out of school occasionally so why aren’t they subject to the same rules including fines!! They should be taken to court for payment! Lefty idiots. Our schools are not in safe hands!!

Absolutely spot on, proving they really haven’t got children’s best interest at heart.

The UK has the 3rd highest spending as a % of GDP in the developed world. Spending on pupils is 50% per capita higher than in 2000. According to the OECD UK school performance has declined slightly since 2006. Where does the money go? Bureaucracy and non-teaching jobs.pic.twitter.com/DzV69M8iBd

I went my daughter’s new school yesterday evening. They tell me that their funding was cut before 2014 and hasn’t increased since. They do a fantastic job. It’s a national scandal and it’s unreported. So don’t moan about this taking place on a school day, address the fundamentals

but the real question is - "who authorized their absence on a school day?" maybe the parents should give them some hefty fines

Their schools will be carrying on, staffed ! Think your tweet is more about your position in the media rather than the issue of under-funding for schools....comment ?

I bet you think headteachers don't do any work on a weekend don't you? Your ignorance is as appalling as your lack of empathy.
