Julia . Please stop . You will cost lives if you start telling people not to stay put ... We have spent 30 years designing and building and regulation on combustibility so that safety is inside a room with the door shut. You know nothing about building construction please delete
On the contrary, I do. The stay put policy saves lives when the construction is not compromised by unsafe cladding, as at Grenfell. Once the fire had spread up the outside of the tower, many lives cd have been saved if the fire brigade had changed their instructions to residents

I’ve just re-read my original tweet and a stray “s” on “cost” mistakenly implies the policy is always a bad one, which it isn’t. I’ve deleted and reposted a clearer one. Thanks.

I would never seek to try and teach you to do a radio program or an interview .... After over 30 years of scrapping up bodies and digging over debris please don't try and teach me about fires

You answer your own point ...."When construction is not compromised".. Well it is not compromised in the vast majority of buildings so don't suggest that all those people leave the safety of the compartmentalisation where they are safe in the vast majority of cases
