No thanks to the Tories who tried to destroy it in the 80s, then reborn thanks to EU funding
-
No mate not rewriting history, learning from it. Thatcher tried and nearly succeeded to kill an entire city no denials and no whataboutism will change the facts. Globalisation through manufacturing and it's port and transport system is why Liverpool has flourished

EU funding regenerated it in the 90s and 00s

Think you’ll find the EU doesn’t have any funds of it’s own

I suppose it helps that they are too polite to tell you what they think of you.
-
I might pop down later, and be less polite, but then I'm a big of a plastic scouser, only been here 39 years, and I live on the Wirral, just a cross Welsh lad from Tredegar really...

No it didn’t.
-
Yes it did. Objective one funding from The EU

-
So the redevelopment in the 80s before the EU existed was because of the EU. Right.
-
Albert Dock refurbishment was mainly private investment. The city centre was effectively rebuilt and redesigned by EU funding thru the 90s and 00s. Whilst Hesletine tried his best his Tory colleagues didn’t really give a shit about the place.

EU initiative and money, not right wing nutters, transformed Liverpool. Fact.

Lots of regeneration funding from the EU when the city was abandoned as a basket case by Westminster. Looks like the EU made the right call, doesn’t it?
-
While the rest of the surrounding towns are sh@t holes..never seen a penny of EU funding..why did Liverpool vote remain, when every town around it voted leave..

Liverpool has a history of outward-looking, international, multiculturalism that is historically much more long-standing than other towns in the north-west??
