Ok, let’s take a look at those numbers, Jezza. £5k spent over, say, 42 years is £119 a year. That’s £10 for each period. 32 Superdrug tampons cost £1.89. So these women are using 160+ tampons a period. So that’s 40 TAMPONS A DAY. Okaaaay. Yep, seems legit. #PeriodPoverty #Mathshttps://twitter.com/jeremycorbyn/status/1043460281706446848 …

We must end period poverty. On average, women spend around £5,000 on sanitary products in their lives. A huge amount which many simply can't afford. Labour will provide free sanitary products for secondary schools, food banks and homeless shelters. #LabWomen2018 #Lab18 pic.twitter.com/KEBW4iJxzs

I spend a fortune on sanitary products because the NHS refuses to give me treatment as I'm under 60. I spend 2 weeks out of 4 being tied to the house it's no fun lol

True enough but they do have a point regarding cost, not the right figures, but right intention. Condoms can be obtained free why not sanitary products

The same is true for HRT! I have to pay for a dble prescription as a dual tablet so nearly £18 every 3 months as CCT won’t allow 6 months. The pill is free & sex a choice. I have no choice as without I cld not function #Menopause

Would a prepayment certificate not help. No one needs to pay more than £108 a year (I think that's the figure) for all prescriptions. I'm over 60 now and was on six meds every two months a few years back.

I think looked at it and didn’t work out cheaper. I had an assistant dispensing the other day who told me I will tell my mum not to take HRT and maybe I shld have tried harder without it! I was so low at times I’ve no idea how much longer I cld have gone on

Keep it in mind. I think the cut off is 14 items a year. A lot of health authorities are moving to a max of two months supply which for you would mean 12 items a year. You can pay monthly

Just seems to be penalised for something that can’t be “just get on with it” the hot flushes I cld have coped with probably it was the MH symptoms that were so awful

Yes, definitely worth looking in to the prepayment certificate - if I didn’t have one (it costs me £104 a year) I’d have to shell out £52 a month for my medication! You can also buy 3 or 6 month certificates or pay monthly by direct debit

I did consider but £18/3 monthly would be £72 a year so wldnt help. I will pay as have no choice but seems so wrong
