but many Irish citizens in the UK only have a right to reside in the UK due to EU free movement. CTA entitlement only applies if they last entered form Ireland. Complicated this EU membership lark isn't it, almost like people didn't know what they voted on https://www.mcgillandco.co.uk/blog/brexit-eu-migration/brexit-and-the-common-travel-area.html …

We knew what we voted for and we want what we voted for. 1922 Ireland Act will remain. If RoI want to change this it's up to them. We're leaving the

I fear you are missing the point regarding citizens rights and what Julia said was incorrect, but hey, missing the point is your privilege. Have a nice day.
-
And what point is that?
-
ok, 1. Julia stated irish citizens had this right for decades 2. that isn't true, many irish rely on FOM rights (EU rights) not CTA 3. so i corrected her 4. and you missed that have a nice day Cherry :-) live's too short.
-
If they identify as EU citizens then FOM rights will go. That's unfortunate but as they wish to remain in the EU that's up to them. If they want to do a bilateral agreement with us fine but the EU frowns upon that sort of thing! But a polite Remainer is always appreciated.

Ireland could easily resolve this matter overnight by enacting the wishes of the Irish People and leave the EU as they wanted to in the first place - Ireland would be much richer for it
-
Talking shit there Dave, but crack on cos it's fucking hilarious.
-
The Irish did vote against EU treaties on two occasions but were told to vote again and it was passed. The Irish people have no intention of jumping off the EU gravy train they have been net receivers since they joined. They may have to finally contribute when the UK leaves.
-
The fix was in a while ago, with the EU agreeing to pay Ireland for “refugees”. But Ireland should be very careful. The EU budget shortfall after Brexit may force them to renege on the deal.
-
Hahahaha, you're a fucking moron.

Simon, thanks for you thoughtful and cogent rejoinder. It’s rare to find an intellect on here with your standing and wisdom. Your use of language, so poignant, concise, hard hitting...a lesson for us all.
-
It’s highly likely Ireland will me forced to make net contributions to the EU for the first time following the departure of the UK. Simon your language is inappropriate and disproportionate I think you owe Grumpy an apology
-
No worries Neal. I’m just messing with him , but thanks for coming to my defense...appreciate it. Of course it would be nice to keep the dialog civil but i’m not holding my breath.

Exactly. This sort of misinformation is easily exposed and merely serves to reduce public confidence in what the government says.
