It’s satirical. It’s meant to be offensive and thought-provoking. If anyone thinks they didn’t have a right to publish this, you’re agreeing with the terrorists that killed the staff at Charlie Hebdo, end of.
A definition of equality should be being able to be lampooned without describing it as racist. If only white people can be lampooned in public, that is actually racist. If a person of an ethnic minority is being made fun of outside of their ethnicity, that does indicate esteem.
White people are not lampooned by using historically racist tropes about their appearance though. Cartoonists are very creative people, why use historical racist tropes to represent a black person, when there are so many other ways to do it? thats the point.
Which bit of the cartoon did you view as a racist trope? The tennis racquet?
The racism and sexism is in depicting the other player as a blonde, white woman, Serenas characture on its own is not racist ( although she doesn’t have big lips in real life), but the ‘large, angry black woman v gentle, tiny, blonde white woman’ is
Incorrect, she is depicted as a blonde mixed race women, which she happens to be!
No, you look at it and you see a white, blonde woman, the cartoonist defended it by claiming this and it’s not true, if you didn’t know her and had never seen her, you would never say ‘that is a blonde, mixed race female’, he does not characature her ethnicity at all
Compare her to the umpire drawn, she is clearly not white and she actually does have blonde hair.
So why was her opponent shown with blonde hair?
Because she has blonde hair?
always someoe playing the racists card..to many snowflakes around, they need to get a life..also SW broke the rules and received the punishment due, so get over it!!
As Ali G used to say “Is it because I is black?” And the answer was always no. It was never that just as it isn’t here which was the point of the Ali G joke. To take the piss out of those who see everything through the racial lens. Good for Aussies to stand up to this stuff
Julia . . you have to understand that her skin is black . . therefore whatever you say . . no matter what it is . . . . . it will be racist
Seems that the argument is that it is racist *only* because the person being mocked is black. On which basis a cartoon of a white person being mocked for having a strop would also be racist - such as Theresa May or Boris for instance. Please close the doors when you leave!
Her tantrum was petulant, her claiming it was because of sexism is ridiculous , her saying because she has a daughter she wouldn't cheat is cobblers , the caricature by the Aussie is funny & the people claiming it's racist are pathetic & boring . Good work Julia

You have to ask? The cartoon is 100% racist. The depiction of Serena (beast-like) is Jim Crow era (white sheets and pointy hats), Naomi is depicted as white with blonde hair despite being Haitian-Japanese, which produces a false binary narrative that black = bad and white = good.
What part of that don’t you understand? Are you debating the non-existence of climate change tomorrow? Or whether or not the earth is flat? The level of your ignorance really is that staggering when perhaps you should be educating yourself and others.
