I feel sorry for the poor girl that beat her, in itself an achievement but no mention of her having to put up with that behaviour and winning

Agree it was a disgusting display of bad sportsmanship

Look at Ramos’s record! He’s penalised far more men than women from what I’ve read. Williams was upset because she got caught! Then she was VERY rude & threatened to ruin his career if he didn’t let her off! How convenient to introduce ‘women’, ‘race’ & ‘babies’ as an excuse!

He might have been slightly more offended by being repeatedly called a liar and a thief and being told by a rich woman that she'd try to harm his career. All while being paid less than $500.
-
Exactly. What a disgusting article.

I can't even begin to express my fear that this level of insanity, is upheld as mainstream fact nowadays. Not only that, it's getting towards being a hate crime to disagree.

Serana and fans - SO far offside. This is NOT a black or a Women Issue. It’s about capitalising on an appalling agenda after precedential bad manners and sportsmanship

What a load of tosh. SW has been around for donkeys' years plus. She knows the rules, she knows that umpire goes by the book - as they ALL should. Her behaviour let down women everywhere. Kudos to Osaka for her good manners & not letting the sideshow wreck her game plan.

If Williams, or anyone else, was unhappy about those rules they had plenty of opportunities to raise the matter. She clearly broke the rules & got caught! I doubt Williams would have shown the slightest sympathy if she had got away with it & her opponent was the one punished!

Broke rules, rightly punished. Get over it. Oh, and an apology to the umpire wouldn’t go amiss.

I get offended by anyone smashing an expensive tennis racket

Yes I'm offended because I can't afford a tennis racquet! Senseless & obscene
