Small point: whilst majority of Rotherham victims were girls I believe the figure for boys runs into the hundreds (they tend to be forgotten/not mentioned).

Dr Alan Billings was last elected as South Yorkshire PCC in 2016 with a turnout of only 28.4%. If you live in S.Yorks and this man doesn't represent your views and priorities then make sure you vote next time.

Better still, do away with the job and invest the savings in front line policing.

Money for more frontline policing would always be welcome but I'm not against the role of the PCC. However it is an immensely powerful role directing police strategy and this is what happens when it's in the hands of ideologues like Dr Billings.

I understand Dr Billings was elected by 50% of 28%of the electorate who chose to vote ie; approximately 14% of the electorate. As you say, this is a powerful, well paid job which seems is being carried-out by a deluded clown. Not sure if he can be dismissed, but should be.

As a retired detective (albeit in Manchester, who have their own problems at the moment) this man is a joke. Not funny either! I cannot believe he said what he said. Truly shocking

They (he?) made a huge misjudgment with their stupid “tell the police if someone is rude” nonsense, and are now compounding that by trying to defend it. Unbelievable.

Glad you are respecting the gender neutral pronouns Sal 😂 If you want to be even more PC, I came across this gem on the internet as an alternative - Ze/hir/hir (Tyler ate hir food because ze was hungry.)

Dear God, I’ve never knowingly respected a gender neutral thing - I don’t do PC! I merely meant was it the loon talking who was responsible for this insanity (he), or the corporate entirety of South Yorks Police (they) 😉

Well done Julia. A man like that must be an embarrassment to real police officers. He made no sense whatever. It is time hurt feelings were dismissed as exactly that and police started worrying more about sticks and stones.
