        My understanding is that the Council run cctv network - as extensive as it is - is only used for revenue creation (i.e. fines). I know someone who contacted the cctv control room to get them to film an assault in progress and they refused.

        Times must have changed since I was in the police(not the met), we used cctv all the time, if it is evidence of a crime, the police have the power to seize it

        Until recently, the elected mayor of Newham virtually ran the local Met. I could supply copious examples. However, he’s been replaced, so things might change... hopefully.
