Oh, and here she is. Judging by her many tweets and the #FBPE hashtag, she is *obsessed* with stopping Brexit. This will, of course, have not in any way influenced her decision to criticise Boris Johnson’s choice of words. Absolutely not.https://twitter.com/AgiBergman/status/1038745265279315968 …

Dear @BorisJohnson as a mother of two daughters who just about escaped the MEN Arena bombing & still suffering the effects, I resent your casual & careless use of suicide vest in your political propos. You are not fit for public office. Sincerely, Agnes, Emma and Lily pic.twitter.com/ajjFQ3Zp1I

Johnson is scum for saying this. There must be so many other metaphors he could have used. He is a clever man of words. He is free to say what he has said but he has diminished himself. His great hero Churchill made his points amusingly without stepping into the gutter.

And you would defend him whatever metaphor he used wouldn't you Julia? Which is worse? You've knowingly set your army of knuckle-heads onto a woman who you have no evidence is being anything other than genuine , all 2 score a cheap point against the FBPE hashtag. Nice one Julia.

As Christopher Hitchens once said: “Those who are determined to be 'offended' will discover a provocation somewhere. We cannot possibly adjust enough to please the fanatics, and it is degrading to make the attempt."

Very dangerous to assume the offended are fanatics. Where is the room for rational people simply to be offended? I was disgusted with Johnson for saying what he did in solidarity with those killed at Manchester actually. Many families are still grieving and they hear this idiot.

People take offence every day, all the time. It means nothing. And it is impossible, if we are to be able to even think and speak, not to offend somebody. Plus, his comment was absolutely NOT directed at the families of these poor victims; they just chose to take it as so.

Who are you to say who should be offended and who shouldn't? Of course offense means something (we have laws about it for that reason). A politician cynically used a suicide bomber as a metaphor for a government policy. To say this is crass and insensitive is an understatement

I don’t care if you’re offended! So bloody what! And what ‘laws’ are these you refer to? No one is responsible for you ‘choosing’ to take offence. Grow up.

The laws on homophobia in the workplace to take one example. You seem angry and confused. Maybe nobody has offended you enough yet. When they do you may change your mind.

Yes, those aren’t ‘offence’ laws. I’m not angry or confused about anything. I’ve no time or interest for getting offended, thank you.

They are offense laws. If you deride someone in the workplace because of their sexuality you could well find yourself up on a charge. There are many other laws designed to defend people from hate speech. You need to read more. (No offence).
