It doesn’t matter what you call it. What matters is that you respect the result, whether you win or not. #lessonsindemocracy https://twitter.com/IanDunt/status/1036619760878985217 …

So when we become competitor to the biggest trading bloc in the world rather than being in on the already highly lucrative frictionless TD’s in place, what will attract investment and trade to us when we are suddenly very small and will have a ton of new red tape? Just asking?
-
Oddly enough, these Brexitwats always go quiet when these questions are out to them.

OK, but after 29th March goods in the UK will not conform to any standards, ie the CE mark which is used now. This can't just be magicked up, there needs to be a new standard set, same with food etc. Though I am a remainer if all these issues were put in place I would go with it
-
Yeah, like you're worried about food standards??? Wot about continuing with EU standards after 29 March for worried Remainers & maybe change it to British standard later on? Same approach with anything else - it's not rocket science!
-
OK so how will the conformity regime work when the ultimate disputes organisation is the ECJ? How do you issue a DoC when your notified body is no longer recognised in the EU framework? Every importer would need to redo the conformity assessment with a new notified body.
-
It’s not rocket science, it’s public health in highly complex supply chains where the ability to verify the origin of the products and its risk is vital to operating a safe regime. Leave the EU means losing all the access to data, to approvals, to inspection records.
-
It means not being able to use the EFSA or the ECJ to enforce rules or carry out investigations. As a massive importer of foodstuffs it’s us taking the risk. Bad actors will see Brexit as a windfall opportunity to make a quick Euro. Horse meat scandal? Just wait.

So no real benefit of leaving them if it’s much as we do now. Except it won’t be, will it? How do transport operators work across the community now? What’s the rules for a third party? You have to get goods to and from places just as a basic requirement and all that stops.
