It doesn’t matter what you call it. What matters is that you respect the result, whether you win or not. #lessonsindemocracy https://twitter.com/IanDunt/status/1036619760878985217 …

Labour was also rejected at the last general election. Do we no longer let them on the ballot paper? One of the most fundamental parts of our unwritten constitution is that "No parliament may bind its successors". As representatives of the people, the same must apply to referenda

How many votes do you want Femi? We don't need another
#PeoplesVote And what would the question be if you had a#PeoplesVote You couldn't ask people to Remain as they have already rejected that option.#ChuckChequers#StandUp4Brexit -
Hours before the referendum result was announced Farage said 52-48% Remain victory would be "unfinished business". By your logic we would have a hard remain and would be joining the euro zone in 2020. How can you not see the huge long term problems this country is storing up for

Leaving was rejected in the first (1975) referendum so, according to JHB, it shouldn't have been an option in the 2016 one.

This is the problem with people like Julia, they seem to think that only their vote counted, the fact that countless people have changed their mind and an additional circa 100000 plus people becoming voting age shouldn’t get a say. It’s like democracy stopped in 2016!

But it's us not respecting democracy, obviously.

How is having a referendum on the final deal not democratic? I personally don’t like referendums as this is what happens, arguments like this. However I believe this situation can only be closed once and for all by another referendum, as both lab and con can’t!
-
If people still want to leave based on what we know now, so be it! If people are so sure of Brexit they have nothing to fear as people will vote for it again.

Number of UK voters at the time of the referendum: 46,500,001 Number of votes for leave: 17,410,742 It seems only 37.44% of the voters voted for leave. That's not a majority...sorry. (Data from Wikipedia)
-
Does that not mean that less than 37% wanted to stay in the eu ?
-
No. It means that 63% of the voters didn't reject remain unlike what
@JuliaHB1 claimed. - 3 more replies
