We know how they operate and it is not as you describe. The law makers are the commission who are appointed. What part of that is unclear?

So how do we vote out the Commission and vote in others who will do a better job? I have never seen them mentioned on any ballot paper. Most people have never even heard of them and could recognise them in a line out of one ,yet they wield huge power.

As you well know, but some people seem not to, we can't. They are appointed by "heads of state/government" who are also not democratically elected for that role, and even then it's done under QMV
