Only in today's world would this question be asked and only in today's world would there be a need to pay someone to write the bleeding obvious answer.

I would strongly oppose any attempt to stop gay actors playing straight characters, so... People are people and we should stop putting them in little boxes.

Alas nowadays that's what's happening. When did we move from equal opportunities to the sort of segregation we used to hate?

You have no understanding whatsoever do you? - Black and White thinking, that everything can be conveyed by acting, well it can't and nor should it be. If any director wishes to convey realism, rather than a factious storyline, then the characters involved have to be real. -

Rock Hudson, one of the silver screen's great leading men. It remains a tragic shame that the cultural restrictions of his time meant he couldn't be open about his sexuality. He had to act straight & did it very well.

Shame he didn’t read/know about Larry Olivier & Duston Hoffman in The Marathon. Hoffman was a method actor who had to ‘feel the role’ and asked Olivier how he prepared for a role. Olivier said: I just act. Nuff said.

But isn’t it time to lay the blame for this nonsense squarely where it belongs? Not at the feet of the perpetually and often professionally offended, but at the feet of the studios and actors who don’t just tell them to ‘f**k off’? Remove their influence and they’re irrelevant.

This same theory would mean The Queen would be the only one who could play The Queen in The Crown. As only real Queens can play Queens right??pic.twitter.com/DqA8fJ3qg5

Plenty of excellent gay actors play straight people all the time which is totally normal, accepted and is not challenged. Has anybody asked how they would feel about this issue being raised?
