Have read the "bit of it"; it looks like precisely the kind of thing I say to those who gripe on about the "aging population" overcrowding the state. Oh no. The overcrowding comes from elsewhere. Medical genius has allowed many to live longer...as it was meant to do!

Young Eskimos once left Old back on trail with wood to burn, keep wolves at bay for short time. They do so no longer - that's Progress. Young Brits once looked after Old, now wanna leave 'em to fend for themselves with no wood, no fire, wolf knocking at door – that's Regress!

1, Oldies, much maligned as bodily decrepit, mentally defunct, are more like magnums of vintage wine: dusty, cobwebby bottles, labels faded; contents rich, mature & mellow. Decades of reading, learning, observing, evaluating, recalling, gives Age huge advantage over callow Youth

Present over-75s survived smallpox, diphtheria, polio, TB, 100 lesser evils with NO antibiotics or jabs (penicillin only for soldiers @ front) & built strong immune system, later generations built none. New superbugs laugh at antibiotics ~70% useless. Only fittest will survive...

From the time the NHS formed, the elderly have been looked after, no one complained, politicians are scared to grasp the nettles & admite that mass immigration over the past few decades & health tourists are the burden, not the elderly!

Sadly it is the middle class Millennial who will ultimately be the true burden as they can't think for themselves. I would like the right however that if/when I get to the point that I don't even know I have an arse let alone wipe it, I can chose to go.

I've always maintained that if they lowered the retirement age, the retired would generally have more disposable income and it would also create more job vacancies for the young enabling them to earn and pay taxes. 🤔

The people that call the elderly a burden need to remember, it was they that fought to keep this country free. If it wasn't for the elderly they would not have the freedoms they now take for granted! I am sick to death of these morons!

So some people are calling our elderly a burden! Why don't they just take their own lives now so they won't be a burden to everyone else in the future! What morons some folk are!
