Julia, my wife gave birth to our eldest in a hospital and was put through mediaeval agonies. She gave birth to our second at home in a birthing pool, without analgesia & much preferred it. Well done @HKane for pointing to another way, one that can truly benefit the suffering Mum.

Nothing at all wrong with it, thanks. Our boys were 9lb 10 and 9lb 12. The second, bigger child was delivered at home without pain relief. My wife felt much more at ease, benefiting at the same time from reflexology from a trained NHS midwife. It was magical by comparison.

Should I ask to have my next filling done without an anaesthetic? This silly attitude reminds me of objections to anaesthesia in child birth in 19th century, that God had ordained women to bring forth children in pain. Queen Victoria disagreed and it became acceptable.

A typical
@Juliahb1 tweet. ‘I’m delighted for (insert name of person/people who Julia disapproves of today) BUT (insert REAL, nasty/small-minded/petty/jealous/judgeme-ntal reason for tweet)’ Reasonable answer to such a toxic dullard? ‘It’s her choice, mind your own business.’Thanks. What a stupid thing to say Julia! I was proud of my wife for the same thing because she entered that day not wanting chemicals and she did it! No slight of character to anyone who has pain relief but absolutely you can be PROUD! Now bore off and stay in your own judgmental world

Talk about taking offence for no reason. Touché. And you forced him into having to clarify his comments and feeling bad for being proud of his fiancée. Crank.pic.twitter.com/WFpuXi6aud

Can’t say anything these days. Can’t even express your feelings for your own partner who was obviously trying to avoid a certain type of labour by trying hypo birthing - why he be proud.
