1 - This is the uniform of medieval patriarchal tyranny. It victim-blames women for their beauty. Where this is enforced it symbolises violent mysogyny. I’m not advocating banning this monstrosity but I refuse to defend it. It deserves to be ridiculed. Not the women inside it. pic.twitter.com/qKux0KPjbj

Slag off Boris all you like! What is natural about the person dressed like this? Concentrate on what matters is, FGM, inter family marriages, abuse of white women etc!

Six EU member countries - France, Belgium, Denmark, Austria, Bulgaria and Latvia - ban the wearing of the burqa completely. How Islamophobic is that ???

Julia, there was a pic in the papers a while back showing peeps walking down the streets in Islamabad and a pic in Small Heath in Birmingham. Most of the peeps in Islamabad were dressed normally, just a head covering but wall to wall Burkhas in Small Heath xx

The lollipop analogy which basically states that those of us who don’t cover are “asking for it” is insulting to all women. This blatant misogyny is totally unacceptable in this country, we’ve come too far to return to 16th century servitude.

Not only is oppressive to women, but it's insulting to men. It implies that men cannot control their urges and the mere sight of a women's face or hair might send us into a rapist frenzy

Boris ridiculed the women who wear it, not the garment itself. Maajid is quite clear about that here.

To be honest this dress-style is a protest and rejection of western culture and values from those enjoying that shared freedom. It is therefore, a political uniform and should be banned.

Julia as a man I find the wearing of the burka to be highly offensive. The idea that the sight of a bit of flesh will turn me into a slathering beast unable to control my urges is just beyond acceptable.
