Learn some feminist economics you're embarrassing yourself. Even in 'progressive' 'liberal' societies women still do the vast majority of care work. Without care work society would collapse in days. That's why care work should be rewarded as an essential component of the economy.

Also, if you care so much about women all of a sudden, you should be repulsed to find that 86% of the burden of Tory austerity dogma has been loaded onto the shoulders of women. Tory austerity is misogynistic hard-right fanaticism. Anyone who cares about women should oppose it

I'm looking after my parents in their 80's and failing health. It's bloody hard work but I do it because a care home would probably destroy them. No easy options or decisions when it comes to care for the elderly.

Many women don’t seem to want to look after their own babies so I don’t know how they’re going to get them to look after their parents

Yes, but we've been brought up to be without emotion or empathy so we just carry on going to work.

Yes, they do. I gave up work twice to care for my mother.

I don't think this is exclusively a sexism thing, but perhaps a class one too - we take for granted care workers and expect them to make do with poverty wages/conditions for all the hard work so some people can get paid more just for wearing white collars.

I’m more concerned with the super Gonorrhoea that we’re all apparently going to get after Brexit!

This a big like the ‘who will pick our fruit?’ story. The answer is British people (male or female as appropriate) who need to earn a living - just like before Eastern European immigrants took all these jobs and unemployed British decided they no longer fancied them.

Thousands of men and women look after their elderly parents every day in this country. They just get on with it. Sometimes it becomes too difficult to cope and that’s when a care home is the only alternative. Not their first choice.

.....and to make matters worse avoid financing it via, for example, a Demantia Tax.

Wonder if this story is about brexit, sexism or incompetent government? Probably all 3.

Maybe they're just being realistic that in today's society, women will be the ones doing it, not men. Doesn't mean they think women SHOULD be doing it though. At least I hope not.

Based on my own view, I don’t think men care about their parents. I get tired of visiting by the time my cup’s empty these days.
