Ok. I've checked with my wife. She says “hi guys” when she is meeting “a group of all-female friends,” she says. So I think we're ok. But open to correction.https://twitter.com/Fallenbytheway/status/1025997432201637889 …

I use the term ‘guys’ when i’m coaching cricket to both boys and girls. Much easier and nicer than ‘kids’ or ‘boys and girls’ the latter sounds like a magician!

They have a hobby. Each morning they search for something by which to be outrageously offended.

Not offended by it, but it is one of the worst 'americanisms' we have adopted in recent years...I prefer 'hello everyone'

-
The trouble is hello has two syllables , not saying this of J.H.B, but some people just cant be bothered. Worst Americanisms? "hey" and "can I get". When are people going to realize they do not live in an episode of "Friends"?

I'm not offended by it, but it sounds a bit anodyne. I'd be in favour of trying bitches instead. As in, 'Right, listen up, bitches'.

There’s always someone there to be offend by something. Life’s too short, people should crack on and try to enjoy life instead of being angry all time.

Exactly. It’s become a ‘cooler’ version of folks. Nothing to do with gender. Language evolves cf ACL Blair Esq.

Cooler than folks? But I always say folks... damn...

Woman at work says “morning guys” when she come in. I’m not offended by it, I just don’t particularly like it

I remember the days when people were actually offended by things or phrases that mattered. Now, too many people think that they should be offended because others have told them so

I'm not a feminist and I'm not a guy either. Just don't like it, it's one of those Americanisms which we need to send back!

I’ve got tons of hobbies but am not keen in being on the receiving end of ‘hi guys’ or similar. Obvs if I’m in a large impersonal group, I get it. But in more familiar or personal contexts, I think it’s a lazy greeting. Just my opinion!
-
You need more hobbies if you're rating every greeting you receive.
-
I don’t rate them, just how I feel about them.
