If they wanted to vote Lab in they had no choice but to vote for Frank Field whether they liked him or not. Hardly the same thing is it.

Which is why his vote went up?
-
His or Labours? Again not the same thing ... Birkenhead vote Lab, he can run as independent and we will both get to see the true preferred vote of the chosen MP.
-
You have a valid point there. There are a lot of areas, both Labour and Tory, were you could run a turnip as a candidate and people would vote for it as they have always voted that way.
-
Some Labour MP’s are sat in ‘safe’ seats and will continue to be voted in for years bcse that area always will vote Lab. That in itself is wrong and a choice and change of Lab MP should be offered. Bringing in deselection will be fairer & MP’s wont be able to sit bk easily .

Disagree with
@frankfieldteam politics but he is clearly a decent man who tries to do the best for his constituency. Hopefully, he stands an as an independent, trounces the loony left and is re-elected.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I once asked him, Can we have mass migration and a welfare state? 'No' he replied. Gasps of shock from the left wing audience. He is true to his constituents & common sense

Frank Field is great, but to be fair stick a red rosette on a donkey and they'd vote for it up there
-
So constituency voted to leave, manifesto committed the party to leaving, he is a leave MP which was known by the voters at the GE, but he has been suspended for voting with leave sympathisers in parliament.Have they got rid of the wrong man? A terrible error of judgement imo.

An alternative candidate would also win 77%. Field deserves deselection. He's voting against his party and the poor he claims to aid by supporting tories.
-
Not if he runs as an independant.
-
Nothing stopping him. He won't win. People in Birkenhead vote Labour, not Frank Field.
-
He doesn't have to "win".
-
Then he can lose, then we'll see how much the people of Birkenhead love a tory supporting brexiteer.
-
Does Corbyn have any history of voting against labour leaders in previous parliments?

He would likely match that as an independent at the next election too.

The beautiful irony of Corbyn’s Labour taking action against those who vote against their ‘leader’.

His constituency voted to Leave the EU. He's simply carrying out their democratically gauged opinion. So, this is nothing more than a Momentum driven coup. Because, you know, f**k democracy!
