Why only a second referendum? Why not keep voting? Best of 5 maybe. And if people don’t accept the result we can always have another referendum.

I see what you’ve done here. You’ve ignored the argument that points out the flaws (legal and otherwise) of the first uninformed. Why do that? Can’t you see the gaps in your logic? Maybe not...

Sorry, but I can’t let your patronising comment about an uninformed referendum slip by. I and the vast majority of people understood v clearly what Leave meant. Your agenda is given away by your hashtag to stop Brexit. Stop pretending you’re a democrat. You’re not!

And now we’ve gone full circle. I’m not trying to unilaterally over turn Brexit. That would cause a democratic shortfall. But there is nothing undemocratic about a ref on the final terms. Whilst you may have voted for stockpiled food and medicine, not all 17m people did.

Wow, great spot! Yes, I want to stop Brexit. It’s going to trash our economy for 50 years (see JRM) as is ruining life for 3m EU nationals that live in the UK. But I propose using democracy to do this. Where’s the problem?

Respect the outcome of the first referendum before calling for a second.

The Remain campaign also breached electoral law and also used ‘dark’ money. Namely £9 million of Govt funding. In fact remain spending was double that of leave.

More Brexit lies. The govt. leaflet was not a campaign leaflet - it discussed both sides AND was issued prior to campaign period placing all govt. departments under purdah. This is all basic concepts under British electoral law. Don’t you know the laws of your own country?

The govt leaflet didn’t discuss both sides - it openly and specifically promoted Remain. Yes, it was before the official campaigns began technically not a campaign leaflet.

Before a referendum govt has a duty to inform the population. Clearly the leaflets were ineffective - even members of ERG were still ignorant of customs union (Dorries) Govt should’ve spent money with AIQ. Can stoke a lot of fear and loathing via these guys.

What facts in support of Brexit should they have included? There’s no economics to support Leave. We’re losing rights as a population, so no upside there. The prospect of blue passports..?

Wrong, Julia. The leaflet raises the points made by the Leave campaigns about immigration, future trade deals and the idea that little would change in our relationship with the EU. Just because it concludes with recommending Remain doesn’t make those references go away.

That’s because (and this shouldn’t really be a shock to you after 2 years) there is no tangible, unarguable benefit to Brexit. What would they have put in the document? ‘We will have blue passports (even though the EU will allow them anyway)’?
