You can actually find good and bad displays of diversity in everything. Football, schools, drama groups etc. Just because you choose not to see or celebrate it, doesnt mean it doesnt happen. (Also, youre displaying signs of a bitter twisted racist old hag)

What are you celebrating? Footballers aren’t selected for the England team because of their colour and it has no bearing on their playing ability. Totally irrelevant. If you can’t debate in a civil fashion, don’t bother replying. I don’t debate stupid people.
-
Isn't the point here that players are not NOT selected because of their skin colour? That seems worth celebrating to me....
-
Yes, if it was a new thing. It’s not.
-
What about when the LMA is constantly lobbying because of the lack of diversity due to numbers of black managers in English football. As there’s a strong number of black players are you saying the LMA’s comparative goals don’t matter?
-
Maybe this will help Hartley Hare get her head around diversity, racism and football... Although I doubt it..http://www.kickitout.org

I don’t get a reply to my tweet but she replied to the others. I guess she doesn’t debate anybody?

But if it was up to you, Hopkins, and Farage half of the players' parents wouldn't have been able to settle in the UK.
-
Oh really? How many of them are recent immigrants from the EU - just a rough estimate?
-
Eric Dier and family moved to Portugal when he was 7. Aged 16 Dier signed for Sporting Lisbon. Free movement of people ?
-
British citizen not subject. Harry Kane's dad born in Rep of Ireland, all his grandparents born in ROI, all enjoyed benefits of freedom of movement in EU.
-
To be fair, the free movement of people between the UK and Ireland has been in place since the 1920's.
-
Sorry, was also meant to say I know what you mean!!

Julia, A meritocratic team. People want the best English players regardless of race. But that's an important *social change* . As a teenager I saw fans chant 'Everton are white' as John Barnes played for Liverpool. When he scored in Brazil, England fans chanted 1-0 (It was 2-0)
-
What year was that? Ps. I’m a bit busy now.
-
The 1-0 chanting was 1984. Goodison Park racism very vocal from 1989-94 but stopped after that. Martin Amis saying being English 'has to do with white skin' 4 years ago. His 2014 BBC4 documentary, Martin Amis' England. The attitudes data on that herehttp://www.britishfuture.org/articles/amis-view-english-equals-white-out-of-date/ …

They didn't really show "diversity". Black Caribbeans were massively overrepresented. Also there were no South Asian players in the team or anywhere near it. Twice as many South Asians as black peoples in the UK.
-
No privately educated players in the squad too. Statistically their should have been at least 2 or 3.
-
Simon Kuper has written about this. I think suggests may be getting a little bit more middle-class. A handful of top players, eg Oxlade-Chamberlain are privately educated. Will lose potential players if idea that football & education are not compatible persists.
