Mat, there are always exceptions to the rules, we don't need to highlight them all do we ?? common sense kicks in at some point, right ?

So basically...everyone gets ice cream whether they attend and do work or not. I wonder why so many choose to live off benefits, and demand stuff for free.

The author acknowledges that kids should be going to school. 96% attendance is the benchmark set by the school mentioned in the article - if a child was off ill for a few days with a cold or something more serious they'd soon drop from 100%.

The question has to be asked why are we giving ice cream to some one who just turns up to school. Surely this is the minimum we can expect from school kids. Why haven't the parents been dealt with...

kids need to learn that carrying a knife is what a weakling coward does. Carrying a weapon is what a P*S*Y does. No real man carries a weapon. so kids should leave the knife at home or all their pals will think they are weak and a coward. simples

I remember being cruelly deprived of receiving a 100% attendance certificate for not having 100% attendance. I never got over it.

As a mother of a daughter with CF this new trend of awarding kids for attendance is deeply unfair on children with chronic illness for whom it is almost impossible to have good attendance
