The voters literally did - remember the way the Tories lost their majority...?
-
-
-
You mean the 85% of voters who voted for a political party which endorsed and promised to implement the EU referendum result..? Those ones?
-
This remains a deeply disingenuous argument, because we both know for a fact that not everyone who voted for one of those parties backed their Brexit policy.
-
That is true. But that doesn’t undermine the fact that there is nevertheless a clear mandate for Brexit.
-
Eh, maybe. I'm not really arguing that there isn't. But I would argue that no mandate is immutable. The electorate is allowed to change its mind.
-
Of course. After implementing the outcome of the last decision.
-
Genuine, non-snarky question - what form of Brexit do you think could get a majority in the Commons?
-
Probably none right now.

So, Julia.... If the Tories cannot deliver Brexit, because they're at sixes and sevens - which party will you vote for?
-
It will depend, as it always has, upon what each of the parties is promising at the next election. I, like millions of others, am a floating voter.
-
Ha! Someone's pants are on fire. As always Mike, Julia's talking nonsense. The chances of Julia NOT voting Tory (or UKIP at a push) are approximately the same as Theresa May sprouting wings on national TV, and ascending to heaven

-
You don’t know that. You surmise. Like Julia if the Tories don’t deliver I have no idea where I go politically from here.
-
I have been a Tory member in the past but will go to UKIP if they become a credible force again and get Nigel back... Although being a degree educated millennial who works for a multi national, I probably don't fit the left's identity politics stereotype

-
Probably not. But only if you assume being degree educated/having a job/being young are somehow mutually exclusive to being a racist, a nationalist, or being gullible as hell. They're really not. It's just that MOST educated people recognise the folly, due to analytical skills

-
I’ve got a degree. My best friend hasn’t. We both voted Brexit. Stop it with the educational divide fgs. You can have a degree & still lack common sense. Still lack communication skills, still be unable to differentiate between fake news & reality.

It’s either Dominic’s way or Dominic’s way- you choose - now that’s what I call democracy
-
As one of your constituents I would urge you to reject this chequers deal, and vote in accordance with what your constituents & Lancashire voted for - which was Brexit.
-
Did you vote to be poorer? To have fewer rights and privileges? To pay higher taxes? For your food shopping to cost more? Surely you can see why politicians are confuse?
-
No - and none would happen if the politicians sorted themselves out properly & stopped messing about.

Brexit debate has become a value judgment, not rational intellectual process. It's been led by ego-defensiveness. Any politician who speaks clearly about what Brexit truly means is branded a heartless fascist; this is totally counterintuitive to rational logical debate.
-
Breaking away from a 'cult-like' organisation is going to cause a lot of initial anguish, separation anxiety, fear and confusion; even rage. What we are currently experiencing is emotional panic. What is required is someone level headed enough to navigate through this panic.
